Law Library will be closed for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday

The Law Library and the Family Court Help Center in the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court will be closed on January 15, 2024, in observance of the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. An article describing how this holiday came to be from the National Museum of African American History & Culture and be found here.

The Law Library will reopen on January 16, 2024.  A list of Court Holidays is available on the Circuit Court’s website at http://www.circuitcourt.org/court-holidays. Except on Court Holidays, the Library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Law Library closed for the New Year’s Holiday

The Anne Arundel County Public Law Library and the Family Court Help Center will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2023.

The court will reopen on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. The Law Library is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm except for court holidays.

The Law Library, the Family Court Help Center, and the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County are closed today November 23, 2023 for the Thanksgiving Holiday and tomorrow, November 24, 2023, for Native American Heritage Day.  The Law Library will reopen on Monday, November 27, 2023. Except on Court Holidays, the library is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Anne Arundel County Public Law Library closed for Veterans Day.

The Anne Arundel County Public Law Library and the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County will be closed for Veterans Day, Friday, November 10, 2023.

Veterans Day was originally known as Armistice Day, commemorating the end of World War I.  In 1954, the name of the holiday was changed to Veterans Day to honor veterans of all wars. Read more here.

Except on Court Holidays, the law Library is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. A list of Court Holidays is available on the Circuit Court’s website here.

The Anne Arundel County Public Law Library and the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County are closed today November 24, 2022 for the Thanksgiving Holiday and on Friday, November 25, 2022 for American Indian Heritage Day.

This article, Congress Establishes Thanksgiving, at the National Archives website describes how Thanksgiving became a holiday. President Obama signed H.J. Res. 40  “The Native American Heritage Day Resolution 2009,” designating the Friday after Thanksgiving as “Native American Heritage Day.” Read more here.

The Law Library will reopen on Monday, November 28, 2022. Except on Court Holidays, the Library is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Law Library is closed for Election Day

The Anne Arundel County Public Law Library and the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County will be closed for Election Day on November 8, 2022.

Find information on voting at the Maryland State Board of Elections.

VOTE IN-PERSON: All polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Find your polling place here.

VOTE BY MAIL-IN BALLOT: Marylanders can use a ballot drop box to return their mail-in ballot. The 2022 General Election ballot drop box locations are here (en español). Ballot drop boxes will be open until 8pm on November 8, 2022.

REGISTER TO VOTE: You can register to vote on election day. Go to the polling place assigned for your residence, and bring a document that proves where you live. You can find your polling place here. The document can be your MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document with your name and new address.

Law Library Closed for Labor Day

The Anne Arundel County Public Law Library and the Anne Arundel County Circuit Court are closed today, September 5, 2022 for the Labor Day holiday.  According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.” Read more on the DOL’s page, the History of Labor Day.
